"Can We Talk?"--5 Strategies Guranteed to Improve Workplace and Family Communication

In this fast-paced, interactive and fun presentation, participants will work with their strengths and weaknesses to learn how to listen more effectively with their ears, eyes and heart. They will put into practice ways to “think on their feet” and stay cool and confident under pressure. Participants will feel the power of empathy up close and personally. They will see first hand that “seeing isn’t always believing” and that there may indeed be two sides to every story that need to be considered for a happier workplace or home environment.

They will learn that “a handful of patience is worth more than a bushel of brains” --Dutch proverb.

Objectives:

1. The first step: A reality check! Take the Communication Quiz and find out just how good your communication skills are!

2. Develop strategies to improve participants’ ability to communicate more effectively.

3. Learn how to “”think on your feet” and stay cool and confident under pressure in a face-to-face encounter.

4. Discover how empathy can be used as a great tool to have to avoid making a faux pas and build trust.

Some of the best information I have ever received! -

Lynn guides families through the “everyday ordinary” details of life planning to ease the transition for their loved ones and to give voice to their legacy. She shares not only why starting the conversations are so important, but how to begin. Lynn's honesty, vulnerability, and most of all humor through the use of some wonderfully effective visual examples made everyone feel engaged and comfortable with what could otherwise be difficult topics. She inspired many to go home, think about what has been left unsaid or assumed and then take action to sit down, and tell their loved ones about what is really important. Like the map to the septic system her father bequeathed her, she gave the class a map of ideas to view long-term planning as a personal creative exercise. - C.B. -Yale School of Medicine

I just finished watching your program on tv. I was completely engrossed by the remarkable stories that you told not only about your life but from people that have shared their stories with you. I think filling out your book is an excellent project for me and my family to work on. I recently lost my aunt, my mother's sister, and watched as my mother had to deal with her belongings and insurance policies. It was at that time that I realized that I didn't have a clue what my 78 year old mother would want if she passed before me. So with that in mind, I wanted to write and thank you for that very clear, often funny, and much needed gift I got from your program on public television.I saw on your website that you are working on another book and I am looking forward to reading it! The way you presented the information gives people the permission to talk openly and that's what my family needs. I am as I write this about to order the book from your website. - J.G.

Thank you for opening up our eyes and our hearts! - L.K.

Thank you for sharing your insight. - A.D.

It’s never too late to think about the “what-ifs” and get organized! - B.V.
