Make Positive Changes in Your Life…One “Bulb” at a Time!

This is the story of dreams and visions and the magnificence of what we can accomplish!

Over one million daffodil bulbs have been planted over 5 acres high in the San Bernardino mountain range of Southern California.

A massive undertaking? Nope. Not if you did it Gene Bauer’s way.

“The Daffodil Garden,” was planted by one woman, Gene Bauer, one bulb at a time, beginning in 1958 to bring her vision of beauty and joy to an obscure mountaintop.

As Gene Bauer explains this magnificence was created by planting each bulb “one at a time, by one woman, two hands, two feet, and a very little brain.”

In an interview, she said, “…I always begin at the bottom of the slope and work uphill… some of the bulbs are still in the ground and blooming after 40-plus years. The garden is “natural,” in that it has never been artificially watered during the summer, fertilized or over-planted.”

The Willow Fire of 1999 destroyed the Bauer’s A-frame home, its surrounding shady trees and garden. Miraculously, the daffodil bulbs beneath the ground survived.

This is the story of dreams and visions and the magnificence of what we can accomplish.
